Here is some tech stuff that Albee highly recommends and uses every day: |

DD-WRT Router Firmware
This aftermarket firmware for certain cheap consumer wireless routers turns them into a full-fledged industrial strength Linux-based firewall/router. My preferred hardware platform for DD-WRT is the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. This baby has a second amplifier that allows it to have unbelievable wireless range. These two together are an unbeatable combination.
Even George Ou agrees...
UPDATE - Buffalo has been barred from selling any Wi-Fi devices in the states - something about a patent dispute. For now, the Linksys WRT54GL is your best bet...

OpenDNS
Faster internet for free! Seriously, OpenDNS has a really fast DNS lookup system; free yourself from the contraints of your pokey ISP's DNS servers, which probably run on the slowest, oldest hardware they can find. Especially if you have a smaller ISP, this is a quick way to get a noticeable speed boost. Also on offer are protection from "Phishing" attacks, blocking of adware sites, and filtering services for your network.

TechSoup.org
If you are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, you're crazy not to get all your software and some of your hardware from TechSoup. They are the official donation clearinghouse for Microsoft, Symantec, Adobe, Cisco, and a number of other big names. A simple order process and quick order turn-around means this one is a no-brainer. Can you say licenses for MS Office 2007 for $20? Can you say Microsoft SBS 2003 Standard for $35? Check it out, people!
