Here is a sample of some projects I've worked on:
30-User Macintosh/Windows Network Integration
The client organization had an all-Macintosh main office and two branch offices running PCs. Faster Connections was hired to integrate these networks with the aim of deploying a Windows-based organization management and accounting package to all the PC and Mac clients at the 3 sites. This entailed setting up a virtual private network (VPN) between the sites, installing a Windows server with Active Directory to act as an application and file server, and integrating user authentication with a separate file server running FreeBSD.
60-User Sun Solaris/Windows Network for a School
Working as the IT Director and Network Administrator, I managed the purchase, installation and administration of a 25-station UNIX-based "Sun Ray" thin-client network for a school. The server for these clients was also used for file serving and backup from the Windows network used by the administrative staff.
25-User Non-Profit - Move to Server w/ Shared Files and Group Calendaring
This project entailed purchasing and installing a Windows Small Business Server (SBS 2003), migrating existing users to the server, and setting up the group calendar, email, address book, file sharing and remote access features of the server for all 25 employees.
Accountant's Office - Network Upgrades
This client had a small network with a noisy server that lived in the principal's office. Cables had been run in all different directions creating a tangled mess. Faster Connections was hired to clean up the cable plant and move the server and network hardware to an IT closet. This entailed removing the existing cables and installing a fresh Cat-5 network with "home-run" connectivity to the closet, reconfiguring network printers and training of staff.
